Celebrating 12 Months of The Contemporary Chorus! 🎉

Writer's picture: Joe KeeganJoe Keegan

We're celebrating our 1st year of The Contemporary Chorus choir. So firstly we'd like to say thank you to our wonderful members. You've made this an incredible experience for us as the directors of the choir and it's been an absolute pleasure to get to know and work alongside such friendly and welcoming people.

We love what we do and hope you love it too. This choir has a foundation of supportive and dedicated people that have built something with a real community focus and team spirit in such a short space of time, so thank you!

We're focused on two main things for the next year! The goals are to be: 1. Bigger and 2. Better!

  1. We've structured the sessions for Spring term 2024 so you can take a look at both our session structure and term plan for the songs we're going to tackle in the next term via this link: https://www.thecontemporarychorus.com/session-structure

  2. Something we've aimed to do this year, which will be in place properly now we've completed a full year cycle of running the choir, is to have all resources available to you before the start of the term. That means accurate lyric sheets, scores and audio files ready for you to access before we start rehearsals at the beginning of each term.

  3. We're changing the way we distribute these resources. We've had a few teething issues with the distribution of the lyric sheets, scores and audio files so we're revamping the way you can access these files. This will be done via 1 single link on the members area that will take you to a "Google Drive folder" with all the resources for the term. We'll post a how-to video for you to look at if you're struggling and your choir director will be more than happy to show you how to navigate the members area for the new term. We'll also make sure that there are ample lyric sheets available for every rehearsal for choir member.

  4. We're putting on our first concert! We're really excited to bring the choirs together for this show. Singing in a mass choir is great fun and we're aiming to make this a really uplifting and special event in our calendar. This is an absolutely no-pressure event, being a member of our choir is all about fun and feeling refreshed from singing together, we want that to be at the heart of this performance. We don't take ourselves too seriously! This will also be a wonderful opportunity to put a smile on the face of your friends and family so if you'd like to get some tickets please spread the word. You can buy tickets via this link: https://www.thecontemporarychorus.com/event-details/the-contemporary-chorus-concert-2024

  5. We have our annual recording day booked in for the end of next term. This will be on the 7th September at the Royal Northern College of Music and will bring together members of all our choirs, including our two brand new choirs!

  6. We’re launching two new choirs. One in Stockport and one in Bury. We’re obviously thrilled to be bringing The Contemporary Chorus to two new locations in Greater Manchester. Our plans to grow will only improve the quality of the opportunities we can provide as a choir. We’re really focused on making every session in all our choirs a happy, relaxed, and fun experience for everyone involved. So, with choirs running across Greater Manchester from Monday-Thursday and more choirs set to open at the beginning of 2025, we’re beginning to realise our mission to make the Contemporary Chorus a regionally accessible pop choir.

  7. We really do care about making your experience as a member of our choir as fantastic as possible so we’ve put together a small feedback form. We’re keen to develop our sessions and customer experience based on what you would like to see. Please follow this link to complete the form: https://www.thecontemporarychorus.com/feedbacksurvey

Finally thanks again for being a part of our wonderful choir and we can’t wait to see what the next 12 months at The Contemporary Chorus will bring!

All the best wishes from your Choir Directors,

Dan & Joe
